Title: City of Fallen Angels Author: Cassandra Clare Series: The Mortal Instruments, #4 Genre: Fantasy, Paranormal, Romance Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books Date Published: April 5, 2011 Pages: 424 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Goodreads Synopsis: The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She’s training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend. But nothing comes without a price. Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary’s best friend, Simon, can’t help her—his mother just found out that he’s a vampire, and now he’s homeless. When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace. Review: This book definitely wasn’t my favorite out of the series but I did enjoy it. First off, Clary and Jace had so much drama the entire book. I think Clary and Jace are one of those couples that I just want to take away from the book and just put them in their own little place where no one can bother them. Anyways… I also was peeved by the way Simon acted in this book. Simon is one of my favorite characters ever in the first 3 books but in this book he just seemed like a douche for dating two girls. I also do think that this series could’ve been ended on City of Glass. I found myself reading this book very quickly because I really wanted to get on with the series and read the next books. But then we come to the end of the book and I just want to scream. That’s all I can say without spoiling the ending. Overall, this book was good and it needs to be read to complete The Mortal Instruments series :). Buy City of Fallen Angels:

Goodreads synopsis: This was supposed to be the best summer of Maggie’s life. Now it’s the one she’d do anything to forget. Maggie Reynolds remembers hanging out at the gorge with her closest friends after a blowout party the night before. She remembers climbing the trail hand in hand with her perfect boyfriend, Joey. She remembers that last kiss, soft, lingering, and meant to reassure her. So why can't she remember what happened in the moment before they were supposed to dive? Why was she left cowering at the top of the cliff, while Joey floated in the water below—dead? As Maggie's memories return in snatches, nothing seems to make sense. Why was Joey acting so strangely at the party? Where did he go after taking her home? And if Joey was keeping these secrets, what else was he hiding? Review: This book brought out the ugly cry. And don’t pretend like you don’t know what I mean. I know you do. This book was heartbreak after heartbreak until the very end. I didn’t expect to see any development in the characters since this is a standalone novel, but surprisingly I did see complexity and development in most of the characters. I loved loved loved the ending of this book! I was sitting on pins and needles waiting to see how this ended- that’s how unpredictable this book was. As the story progressed and Maggie gained more knowledge about Joey’s secrets and regained her memories, I just wanted to jump into the book and give her a big hug. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good psychological thriller. *I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.* Buy One Moment:
Goodreads Synopsis: Sierra's family runs a Christmas tree farm in Oregon—it's a bucolic setting for a girl to grow up in, except that every year, they pack up and move to California to set up their Christmas tree lot for the season. So Sierra lives two lives: her life in Oregon and her life at Christmas. And leaving one always means missing the other. Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other. By reputation, Caleb is not your perfect guy: years ago, he made an enormous mistake and has been paying for it ever since. But Sierra sees beyond Caleb's past and becomes determined to help him find forgiveness and, maybe, redemption. As disapproval, misconceptions, and suspicions swirl around them, Caleb and Sierra discover the one thing that transcends all else: true love. Review: This book was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was an amazing holiday read. I read it in a few days, but if I had the time, I would have read it in one sitting. I had expected there to be some sort of major heartbreak in this story, but I was wrong. This was simply a cute Christmas book, which I loved because after finishing City of Heavenly Fire, I needed something where nothing bad happened.
Sierra’s family runs a Christmas tree business and every year from Thanksgiving to Christmas, they go down to California and sell trees. Sierra has a best friend who she only sees during this time, Heather. Heather has a new boyfriend and isn’t too fond of him. She comes up with an idea for her, her boyfriend, and Sierra to go on a double date. Only one problem … Sierra doesn’t have a boyfriend. That gets fixed easily, she meets someone buying one of her family’s trees. But things aren’t that simple as she soon finds out that her new crush, Caleb, has a secret he’s been hiding. I loved Sierra and Caleb’s relationship throughout the book. Even though Caleb had a secret, she is very accepting and doesn’t hold it against him. Overall, I think this is a great holiday read and definitely recommend it! :) Buy What Light: I saw Alaina at an infinite book world do this tag and decided to do it too. :) I don't have any decent pictures of me, so enjoy this picture of my cat, Shadow. McElderry Books Date Published: March 24, 2009 Pages: 541 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Goodreads Synopsis: To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters - never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight. As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City - whatever the cost? Review: I am trying so so hard to make this a spoiler free review because I was spoiled before I read it and I think it is so much better to discover something on your own rather than someone else telling you about it. Anyways, wow, this book. This book was thrilling from the beginning to the end. When you thought something was going to happen, it didn’t and something completely different happens. When you think all hope is lost, everything turns around. My one complaint about this book is that the series could have been ended after this book. I guess that isn’t really a complaint about this specific book but oh well. The entire book this was pretty much me: This is such a powerful read. The last half of the book I couldn’t believe what was happening. I didn’t want to believe it. This book was outstanding. Buy City of Glass:

Review: This book is extremely unique, I have not seen any other series even remotely similar. This book did take me a while to read. I wanted to really make sure I caught every detail so I made sure I read slowly.
I was captivated by this book, all of it; the plot, the characters, the world. I loved the characters. Every character had something different and special about them which made it very easy to differentiate them. This is by far the best siren/ mermaid novel I have ever read.
