I'm sorry for my hiatus on here, I have been swamped with quizzes and schoolwork. Luckily, I have time to post today and hopefully more this weekend and next week! I was tagged by Alaina over at An Infinite Book World to do the It's Finally Fall! Book Tag. 1. In the fall, the air is crisp and clear: name a book with a vivid setting! A book with a vivid setting would definitely have to be Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. In the book, the setting of Ketterdam and the Ice Court were super vivid. I could easily imagine myself there, with all of the details given. 2. Nature is beautiful, but also dying: name a book that is beautifully written, but deals with a heavy topic like loss or grief. The first book that came to mind for this question was Protected by Claire Zorn. It was beautifully executed, although it dealt with a lot of heavy things such as loss and grief. 3. Fall is back to school season: share a non-fiction book that taught you something new. At the moment, I haven't read any non-fiction books recently! 4. In order to keep warm, it's good to spend some time with the people we love: name a fictional family/household/friend-group that you'd like to be a part of. A family that I would love to be a part of is the Black family from the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I really love the bond between Daemon, Dawson, and Dee, and would love to be included in something like that! 5. The colorful leaves are piling up on the ground: show us a pile of fall-colored spines! I didn't have time to take a picture of fall-colored spines but some good ones are ACOTAR, City of Fallen Angels, and Ruin and Rising. 6. Fall is the perfect time for some storytelling by the fireside: share a book wherein it somebody is telling a story. I am going to use Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout, when Daemon tells Katy the legend of Snowbird. 7. The nights are getting darker: share a dark, creepy read. I actually can't think of any super creepy reads at the moment. 8. The days are getting colder: name a short, heartwarming read that could warm up somebody's cold and rainy day. I'm going to pick The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson for this question because it is a quick, sweet contemporary that will definitely warm you up! 9. Fall returns every year: name an old favorite that you'd like to return to soon. This isn't exactly old, but I'd love to re-read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom... again... 10. Fall is the perfect time for cozy reading nights: share your favorite cozy reading "accessories"! I love reading cuddled in a nice flannel blanket! 11. Spread some autumn appreciation and tag some people!
I tag everyone reading this post to do this tag! :)

Don't be afraid. There's the two of us now. -Outlander by Diana Gabaldon This teaser is from my current read, Outlander. So far, I am enjoying it a lot. I have heard wonderful things about it from many different people, so I am anticipating a great novel! If you do Teaser Tuesday posts, leave the link in the comments and I will be sure to check it out! Don't forget to comment and subscribe to stay up to date with all of my new posts! :) The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord...1743. Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives. It's Monday again and you know what that means! A new update on what I am reading! I am finally reading a new book, so I am super excited to let you know what I am reading. I am reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon! I have ben highly anticipating reading Outlander since I've heard such amazing things about it. I think the reason that I have been putting it off for so long is because it is an absolutely huge book. Even though it will probably take me a while to finish this book, I am thinking that I will really enjoy it. Right now I am just at the beginning, but I am super excited to get into it!
Do you do a IMWAYR post? If so, please leave the link in the comments below, and I will definitely check it out! Don't forget to comment and subscribe to get notified when I post! :) The thought filled me with grief, grief for the dreams we'd shared, for the love I'd felt, for the hopeful girl I would never be again. Title: Shadow and Bone Author: Leigh Bardugo Series: The Grisha Trilogy, #1 Genre: Fantasy Publisher: Henry Holt and Company Date Published: June 5, 2012 Pages: 358 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Goodreads Synopsis: Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee. Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling. Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart. Review: Shadow and Bone is truly an extraordinary book. Actually, the entirety of the Grishaverse books are extraordinary. As I am writing this review, I am struggling to find the proper words to explain how phenomenal Shadow and Bone is. Well, all I can do is explain it to the best of my ability. So, without further ado, let’s get into my Shadow and Bone review! The first thing that I absolutely have to mention is the amazing world-building. The world of Ravka and the Grisha was so well thought out. The first aspect of the world is the Fold. The Fold is a section of darkness and creatures in Ravka. I have no idea how Leigh Barudo was able to come up with a creation like the Fold but I am so glad she did. It was one of the main problems throughout the series and it made Shadow and Bone ten times better. The next aspect of the world-building is the Grisha. The Grisha are divided up into three types and more subtypes. We have the Corporalki which are made up of the Healers and Heartrenders. Then we have the Etherealki which consists of the Inferni, the Squallers, and the Summoners. Finally, we have the Materialki which are made up of the Durasts and the Alkemi. The Grisha is what really drew me in with this world. The idea of them is so unique and well executed. I did read the Six of Crows series first and when I did, I desperately wanted to know more about the Grisha. And I definitely got my wish. In Shadow and Bone, something I really found interesting was Alina struggling with her newfound power. I think that was something that really made this book interesting because it made her human. The last thing that I want to mention are the characters. First, of course, we have Alina. I found her easy to relate to and easy to like. Then we have Mal. Honestly, it took me a while to warm up to him. But once I did, I was definitely rooting for him. Next we have the Darkling. He was one of the most intriguing things about Shadow and Bone because we didn’t really know much about him. Then we have the rest of the characters (Genya, Nadia, Marie, David, etc.) all of which have amazing backstories. Overall, Shadow and Bone is an amazing book with something for everyone. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reading it! Buy Shadow and Bone:
Hi! I got the amazing idea to do a Fall Blogging Schedule from Alaina over at An Infinite Book World. I think it will be a great way for me to be more organized and able to post more often! So, without further ado, let's get into my schedule! Monday: It's Monday! What are you Reading? This post will only be going up when I am reading something new. If I am reading the same book, there will not be a post on Monday! I love posting these updates to share with you what I am reading. I think having a fun blog post will definitely brighten up the day. Tuesday: Teaser Tuesday The same thing goes for this post. It doesn't make sense to post a teaser from a book if I am not reading a new one. So, these posts will be going up whenever I am reading a new book! Wednesday: None or Top 5 Wednesday I am super busy on Wednesdays as I have dance. So, if I have time and like the prompt, then Wednesday will become a Top 5 day. Thursday: None Friday: None Saturday: Review I will be posting a review every Saturday unless something huge pops up! Sunday: None Please keep in mind that this schedule may not be stuck by all of the time because I am in high school, so sometimes my life can be a little unpredictable.

Title: No Vain Loss Author: M.C. Frank Series: No Ordinary Star, #3 Genre: SciFi, Fantasy Publisher: M.C. Frank Date Published: End of 2017 Pages: 230 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Goodreads Synopsis: A soldier is summoned to the North Pole, days before the year changes, told to fix the great Clock for a celebration. He has no idea what to do. A girl, hunted for the crime of being born, almost dies out on the ice. She is rescued by the last polar bear left alive. A library waits for them both, a library built over a span of a hundred years, forgotten in the basement of an ice shack. The world hasn't known hunger or sickness in hundreds of years. It has also forgotten love and beauty. This is the One World. The year is 2524. Inspired by the short stories of Ray Bradbury, this futuristic young adult novel in three parts is set in a world where Christmas -among other things- is obsolete and a Clock is what keeps the fragile balance of peace. Written in three parts, this is the breathtaking story of how two unlikely people change the world, and each other, one book at a time. In No Vain Loss, the world is on the brink of the greatest war humanity has ever known. Lives will be lost. New truths will be revealed. Review: No Vain Loss is an epic conclusion to an epic series. It is filled to the brim with action-packed scenes, beautiful romance, and a huge amount of plot twists. If you are unsure about reading this series, I just finished this entire book in one sitting- that is how phenomenal NVL is! I have been anticipating the release of this book for a long time now, and I was very excited to start it. This review is going to be full of the amazing things that make up this book. There was absolutely nothing that I didn’t enjoy in this book, so there will not be anything negative in the review. To start, I am so happy that No Vain Loss picks up right after the cliffhanger of No Plain Rebel. As soon as No Vain Loss begins, we are showered with action. Just when you think there may be a breather, something else happens. This made NVL become an extremely fast paced book which I think suited it very well. In addition, M.C. Frank was able to flawlessly execute this speed without making anything feel rushed. Next, I want to talk about Felix and Astra. Throughout the duration of No Vain Loss, we get the opportunity to watch them go about trying to save the world. There were many times when I didn’t know what was going to happen next, especially pertaining to Felix and Astra. I obviously can’t touch on this too much without spoiling something, so I am going to leave it at this: there were much more plot twists in No Vain Loss than I could count. If you are looking for a slow burning romance, an amazing fantasy novel, or a dystopian book, No Vain Loss is for you. In fact, I highly recommend reading this entire series. No Vain Loss has easily slipped in to become one of my favorite books of all time. If that doesn’t say something then I don’t know what will. I truly have no world to explain how phenomenal No Vain Loss is. So, if you really want to know, read it for yourself (in all seriousness, this book is a definite must-read)! Buy No Vain Loss:
Sometimes things are going to happen and the only way out is through. Title: Under Rose-Tainted Skies Author: Louise Gornall Series: Standalone Genre: Mental Health, Contemporary, Romance Publisher: Clarion Books Date Published: January 3, 2017 Pages: 330 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Goodreads Synopsis: At seventeen, Norah has accepted that the four walls of her house delineate her life. She knows that fearing everything from inland tsunamis to odd numbers is irrational, but her mind insists the world outside is too big, too dangerous. So she stays safe inside, watching others’ lives through her windows and social media feed. But when Luke arrives on her doorstep, he doesn’t see a girl defined by medical terms and mental health. Instead, he sees a girl who is funny, smart, and brave. And Norah likes what he sees. Their friendship turns deeper, but Norah knows Luke deserves a normal girl. One who can walk beneath the open sky. One who is unafraid of kissing. One who isn’t so screwed up. Can she let him go for his own good—or can Norah learn to see herself through Luke’s eyes? Review: I am happy to say that all of my expectations for Under Rose-Tainted Skies were met. I originally heard about this book on Goodreads, and thought it sounded like a really unique book. After I found it, Under Rose-Tainted Skies stayed on my TBR for a while. Finally, I got the chance to pick it up. And I am so glad I did, because Under Rose-Tainted Skies is phenomenal! To start, Under Rose-Tainted Skies is Own Voices (meaning the author is writing based on her personal experience)! Books about mental health are hard to find, and Own Voices books about mental health are even harder to find. This book is truly a gem. Adding onto that, the representation of mental health (or anything) in books in so important. Specifically, accurate mental health representation. I am in no way a professional, but after doing some research on my own, I have found that Under Rose-Tainted Skies is pretty accurate. I can’t write this review without mentioning Norah and Luke. Something I really loved was that Luke didn’t rescue Norah. I want to let everyone discover the story for themselves, so I am just going to leave it at this: Under Rose-Tainted Skies is a unique and phenomenally executed book. If you are looking for a mental health related book, or just looking for a great read, I highly recommend you check this one out! Buy Under Rose-Tainted Skies:
