Synopsis: Bad boy Kaidan Rowe has never wanted for anything- money, popularity, musical talent... hot girls- but seducing them is part of his duty as Nephilim, slave to the demon Dukes. As the son of the Duke of Lust, Kaidan has learned his father's ways, becoming a master of passion, a manipulator of chemistry. Disobeying his father would mean certain death. Thankfully for Kaidan, he's got at his job. And he enjoys it.

Until he meets Anna Whitt- smart, feisty, and inexplicably good- the one girl seemingly immune to his charms. The daughter of a guardian angel and a fallen one, she makes him wish for more than he could ever deserve.

Determined to save all Neph from their dark lives, Anna joins forces with Kaidan to overcome the Dukes' oppressive ways. In the light of her affections, Kaidan must undergo his toughest test of all, a battle of the heart.

Sensual and swoonworthy, this companion volume to the Sweet Evil series, told from the perspective of the mysterious Kaidan Rowe, gives readers revealing insights into the true emotions that drive him.

Review:
I am just going to start out by saying I'm usually not a fan of books that re-tell the entire story from another perspective, BUT, I really had a good time reading this book. The book is written in such a way that it wasn't like you were reading the same book twice. It rehashed the amazing moments between Anna and Kai (THE FEELS) but it didn't feel like a repeat of the series in Anna's POV.

When I was reading the first three books, I wanted to see what Kai was feeling. I wanted to learn the thoughts behind his actions. What he was thinking all those times he pushed Anna away.

At the very beginning of the book, my heart was already being tugged. Pharzuph is telling Kaidan that it is time to start his training. His thoughts immediately go to Ginger and Marna, and how they'd changed after going through what he was about to. It was hard to keep in mind that at this point in the book, Kaidan had just turned 11 and Ginger and Marna were 12. A child having to promote evil, like they did, hurts my heart. :(

I LOVED how the book included a song or two that fit with each chapter. It featured a few quote from the song as well. I downloaded all of these songs on Spotify from a playlist for Sweet Temptation that someone has created. In my opinion the songs and quotes match the chapters really well.

Here is the link to the Spotify playlist if you are interested:

It was nice to reminisce on some of my favorite Anna and Kaidan moments, even though it gave me major feels.

I actually found it kind of funny how confused Kai was when he Anna first met. Granted, at first he thought she was sent by Pharzuph to possibly kill him. But during a lot of the first part of the book, he was  going back and forth between whether Anna was faking her innocent act or not.

If you loved the Sweet series and are looking for more, this book is it.

"My heart raced and somersaulted as the two of them grabbed hands and left us. I did not want to see Kaidan Rowe again, did I? No. And besides, for the first time a boy was showing interest in me, and I was interested, too. I didn't want to worry about some disrespectful guy messing things up."

"Dad whistled low and stepped forward. Mom gave Abuela and I a frightened glance. She'd never been comfortable with guns. Some of these were straight out of Rambo. There were handguns, rifles, and shotguns- manual, semi, and automatic. A variety of at least twenty-five. Along with axes and boxes of ammo lined along the bottom."

Hi! School starts for me next week (Monday, August 29th). I am posting this because I am not sure if I'll be able to post everyday during the school year. I will try my best to post everyday and I will always post on the weekends. I may prepare posts ahead of time to post during the week, but it all depends on how much work I have to do.

Sweet Reckoning Review

Synopsis: It's time.

Evil is running rampant, and Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability.  But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous- especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna's great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she's prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

Review:

In this book, we really get to see more of the other relationships between characters. Not only do we see tons of Anna and Kai, we see relationships develop between Blake and Ginger, Marna and Jay, and Kope and Zania.

I didn't like the idea of Jay and Marna being together with whisperers being able to catch them. But that definitely wasn't the biggest of their problems. I was crushed when we learned that Marna was pregnant, Marna is one of my favorite characters in the series, so I really didn't want her to die. I really hoped that after they defeated the Dukes, that Marna wouldn't die after all. Sadly, she did. But I can tell Jay will be an amazing father to their daughter, Anise.

One of my favorite parts in the book is on page 49, Anna says, "...I sat in my hotel room, reading about a swoony alien guy." I immediately knew she was referring to Daemon from the Lux series, by Jennifer L Armentrout, which is my favorite series! I totally fangirled at Anna talking about Daemon. :)

I loved the scenes leading up to and during Anna and Kai's wedding. It was such a spur of the moment type of thing, they didn't have the time to have a huge wedding. The wedding took place on Blake's plane, which was good since whisperers didn't go that far away from the earth. AWHH the wedding was so perfect and adorable, it was everything I wanted it to be!!

The one thing I really didn't like was how fast the battle scene went. I find that tends to happen during the endings of trilogies. I feel like Patti's death impacted Ginger as much, if not more than it impacted Anna.

I loved the very end of the book. When Anna and Kaidan decided to adopt and a little girl, Alile, comes up to Kaidan and called him Dad, I knew they would adopt her.
