McElderry Books Date Published: March 25, 2008 Pages: 453 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Synopsis: Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father. To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father? Review: I could not put this book down. This is one of those books where you just want to drop everything and read. This is a forget to feed the dog, don’t go to work, lock yourself in a room and read, type of book. Cassandra Clare did an absolutely phenomenal job on this book. In the first chapter I was already enthralled.
This is a thrilling and powerful story. The entire world of this series is so well thought out and memorable. Everything you could ever want is in this book; humor, romance, action, a paranormal element, suspense, and so much more. Loaded with action, this is a must-read and you will not want to put down this novel! So what are you waiting for? Go read!! Buy City of Ashes: How to Play: This was a book tag created by Emmmabooks. How do I play, you ask? Well, it is as simple as this: Cut up slips of paper with characters names on them and put them in a cup/bowl/hat. I used 15 male characters and 15 female characters, but you can do however many you want. After that, you blindly pick two slips of paper. Round 1: Dawson Black from the Lux series and Nora Grey from Hush, Hush: I am not really sure why I ship Dawson and Nora but I just do. I love Nora and I think Dawson would be great for her because he would always be there for her and protect her. Round 2: Adam Thompson from the Lux series and Clary Fray from the Mortal Instruments: Adam in my mind is the perfect mix of a sweet guy and a badass. I think he and Clary would just get along really well. Round 3: Kaidan Rowe from the Sweet Trilogy and Johanna Mason from the Hunger Games: I think that Kaidan and Johanna's personalities would clash. They both are very strong willed and minded. I don't really know... I just don't think they would fit very well together. Round 4: Peeta Mellark from the Hunger Games and Ash Thompson from the Lux series: I think Ash would be so mean to Peeta. Peeta is such a sweetheart and Ash is honestly a jerk most of the time. Plus Ash doesn't like humans so... Round 5: Patch Cipriano from Hush, Hush and Dee Black from the Lux series: I love Dee, she is so so awesome. Patch gets on my nerves sometimes so I definitely rip this. Round 6: Tobias Eaton from Divergent and Katy Swartz from the Lux series: Katy sometimes reminds me of Tris so I think she would be a good match for Tobias. I also love both of these characters so that is my main reason for shipping Katy and Tobias. Round 7: Jace Wayland from the Mortal Instruments and Anna Whitt from the Sweet Trilogy: I literally have no reason for shipping Jace and Anna, I just do. :) Round 8: Augustus Waters from The Fault in our Stars and Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games: This is going to sound mean but I think that Augustus would be a burden to Katniss, especially after all Katniss has gone through. Round 9: Maxon Schreave from the Selection series and Tris Prior from Divergent: Since Maxon seems to have a thing for strong women, and Tris is incredibly strong, I think Maxon and Tris would make a good match. Round 10: Andrew Thompson from the Lux series and America Singer from the Selection series: America can definitely hold her own against Andrew. The only problem with this is that Andrew doesn't like humans. Other than that, I totally ship it. Round 11: Magnus Bane from the Mortal Instruments and Juliette Ferrars from Shatter Me: I really don't like Juliette and I think that she doesn't deserve Magnus' awesomeness. ;) Round 12: Daemon Black from the Lux series and Vee Sky from Hush, Hush: Vee is my favorite character in Hush, Hush and I love love love Daemon. So that is pretty much my only reason for shipping them... Round 13: Simon Lewis from the Mortal Instruments and Isabelle Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments: I don't know how I drew this match but YES YES YES!!!!!!!! I ship Sizzy so hard!!!! Round 14: Alec Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments and Marlee Tames from the Selection series: No. Just no. I don't ship this at ALL. I just... I don't even know... they just would NOT be a good match. Round 15: Gale Hawthorne from the Hunger Games and Hazel Grace Lancaster from The Fault in our Stars: I can't even imagine Hazel and Gale being together. Not even as friends. They are complete and total opposites.

Will Ashling have to forsake her true love to save the world? And will she have the strength to do it? Bloodmoon is the thrilling conclusion to the Bloodmark Saga. Review: WOWOWOWOW THIS SERIES IS PHENOMENAL! This book is the third and final installment in the Bloodmark Saga and it is an epic conclusion to a great series. A lot of young adult novels have a less than spectacular ending. This was so not the case with Bloodmoon. This book was so fast paced, I couldn't put it down. I mentioned in my review of Bloodrealms that the book was filled with plot twists. This book had even more. When you think a character is gone forever, they actually aren't. When you think someone is going to die, someone else you didn't expect dies instead (still not over it). My favorite types of books are the types when you can fall in love and connect with the characters. This entire series definitely falls in that category. Even from the first book, there was so much depth in the characters it was so easy to connect with them and eventually fall in love with them. I personally find it super easy to connect with the characters- even the werewolves. The last half of the book was heart-breaking. I definitely did not expect the ending, but I liked it (for the most part). The entire Bloodmark Saga has become one of my favorite series. I didn't have super high expectations for these books since the last werewolf based novel I read was disappointing, but these books went above and beyond and exceeded all of my expectations. Do yourself a favor and read these books! :) Click the link below (you may have to scroll down a bit) to enter the giveaway and win: a signed hardcover copy of Bloodmark, Bloodmark Saga temporary tattoos, and a Bloodmark Saga Bookmark. USA ONLY! This giveaway ends on December 17. Buy Bloodmoon: Author Interview 1. How did you get the idea for the Bloodmark Saga? I had a dream of Ashling in a scene in the third book. I knew her voice and saw her face and heard her words. And I knew I had to find out who she was and tell her story. And I am so thankful I did. 2. How much research did you have to do for these books? I spent a year doing research into Celtic mythology, werewolf lore and red hair legends, as well as doing location research and full character outlines. It was long and extensive, but well worth it. I think it helps bring the story to life. 3. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what songs? I listen to one song on repeat for hours. Sounds awful doesn't it? But it really helps me drown out distractions as well as not being distracted by songs changing. I need a consistent emotion musically. Throughout the Bloodmark Saga I listened to a lot of haunting Celtic music. 4. What is your favorite movie? Dang. That's hard. Really can't pick one. Childhood Nostalgia: Goonies. Nerd Credit: Princess Bride. Love Movie: Practical Magic. Epic Fantasy: Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Where I like to Hide: Harry Potter Series. 5. What would you do if you were the last person on Earth? Eat chocolate, read all the books on my TBR pile and take care of all the animals I suppose. I'd probably live with a pack of dogs or wolves and snuggle with them every night. 6. What is your favorite food? Dark Chocolate. Or maybe Tater Tot Hotdish...but I am from the Midwest. It can't be helped. 7. What was the hardest thing to write in the Bloodmark Saga? A scene in one of the books where a character I love made the greatest sacrifice. I sobbed writing the whole scene. My editor read it and called me sobbing and we had a horribly ugly cry about it, but it was the truth of the character. 8. What books do you recommend? Currently fan-girling over Sabaa Tahir's Ember in the Ashes series! She's a genius.
