Goodreads Synopsis:
Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires—the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.

After two years of freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy, a school for vampire royalty and their guardians-to-be, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. But inside the iron gates, life is even more fraught with danger…and the Strigoi are always close by.

Rose and Lissa must navigate their dangerous world, confront the temptations of forbidden love, and never once let their guard down, lest the evil undead make Lissa one of them forever…

Review:
I have heard so many mixed things about this book, I really had no idea whether I would like it or not. I wanted to see for myself what all of the buzz, negative and positive, was about. I am SO glad that I decided to read Vampire Academy. I loved it. I loved the way the characters grew throughout the book. I especially loved Rose. Like everything about her. She is so badass and snarky, but in a great way.

I also loved how every character had some sort of backstory. Christian, Lissa, Rose, Dimitri, and even Mia. The relationships between Rose and Dimitri and Lissa and Christian were so complex it was just fabulous.

I think that the idea of there being more than one vampire species is very unique in YA. At least in all young adult vampire novels I’ve read, none of them had more than one vampire species, let alone three.

I also watched the movie and I thought that it stayed really true to the book. The one thing I didn’t like about the movie was the actor that played Dimitri. That just wasn’t how I pictured him.

Overall, I think that this book was amazing and I think you should definitely check it out!
