![]() Title: City of Ashes Author: Cassandra Clare Series: The Mortal Instruments, #2 Genre: Fantasy, Paranormal, Romance Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books Date Published: March 25, 2008 Pages: 453 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Synopsis: Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father. To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father? Review: I could not put this book down. This is one of those books where you just want to drop everything and read. This is a forget to feed the dog, don’t go to work, lock yourself in a room and read, type of book. Cassandra Clare did an absolutely phenomenal job on this book. In the first chapter I was already enthralled.
This is a thrilling and powerful story. The entire world of this series is so well thought out and memorable. Everything you could ever want is in this book; humor, romance, action, a paranormal element, suspense, and so much more. Loaded with action, this is a must-read and you will not want to put down this novel! So what are you waiting for? Go read!! Buy City of Ashes:

The best and the worst- The best because you enjoy them so much but the worst because you remember that you actually have real responsibilities LOL. I loved the entire series! I definitely can't speak for other people though because some hate it. Thanks for visiting my blog! :)

I've heard so many good things about the Mortal Instruments Series, but have not yet managed to pick up one of the books. These are on my TBR pile though and I cannot wait to delve into them. Great review. Thanks for linking up to #TalkoftheTown.
