Sometimes things are going to happen and the only way out is through. Title: Under Rose-Tainted Skies Author: Louise Gornall Series: Standalone Genre: Mental Health, Contemporary, Romance Publisher: Clarion Books Date Published: January 3, 2017 Pages: 330 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Goodreads Synopsis: At seventeen, Norah has accepted that the four walls of her house delineate her life. She knows that fearing everything from inland tsunamis to odd numbers is irrational, but her mind insists the world outside is too big, too dangerous. So she stays safe inside, watching others’ lives through her windows and social media feed. But when Luke arrives on her doorstep, he doesn’t see a girl defined by medical terms and mental health. Instead, he sees a girl who is funny, smart, and brave. And Norah likes what he sees. Their friendship turns deeper, but Norah knows Luke deserves a normal girl. One who can walk beneath the open sky. One who is unafraid of kissing. One who isn’t so screwed up. Can she let him go for his own good—or can Norah learn to see herself through Luke’s eyes? Review: I am happy to say that all of my expectations for Under Rose-Tainted Skies were met. I originally heard about this book on Goodreads, and thought it sounded like a really unique book. After I found it, Under Rose-Tainted Skies stayed on my TBR for a while. Finally, I got the chance to pick it up. And I am so glad I did, because Under Rose-Tainted Skies is phenomenal! To start, Under Rose-Tainted Skies is Own Voices (meaning the author is writing based on her personal experience)! Books about mental health are hard to find, and Own Voices books about mental health are even harder to find. This book is truly a gem. Adding onto that, the representation of mental health (or anything) in books in so important. Specifically, accurate mental health representation. I am in no way a professional, but after doing some research on my own, I have found that Under Rose-Tainted Skies is pretty accurate. I can’t write this review without mentioning Norah and Luke. Something I really loved was that Luke didn’t rescue Norah. I want to let everyone discover the story for themselves, so I am just going to leave it at this: Under Rose-Tainted Skies is a unique and phenomenally executed book. If you are looking for a mental health related book, or just looking for a great read, I highly recommend you check this one out! Buy Under Rose-Tainted Skies:
