People do the damndest things when they're in love. ![]() Title: Half-Blood Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout Series: Covenant, #1 Genre: Fantasy, Paranormal, Romance, Mythology Publisher: Spencer Hill Press Date Published: October 18, 2011 Pages: 281 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Goodreads Synopsis: The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals--well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1: Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck. Review: When I started this book, I found it very similar to Vampire Academy. The Half-bloods were the Dhampirs, the Hematoi were the Moroi, and the Daimons were the Strigoi. Even the laws, were similar. The Hematoi/pures were viewed as superior to the Half-bloods, just like the Moroi and Dhampirs. Aside from that, this book was phenomenal. I loved the forbidden but undeniable chemistry between Alex and Aiden. I was rooting for them from page 1. Especially during the training sessions, oh. my. god. I don’t know how much I can say without spoiling it. So, I’ll leave it at this: damn. I loved that from day 1, Alex was a badass. I love strong and empowered female characters so, that just made me love Alex even more. Now onto Aiden. Does Jennifer L. Armentrout ever have a shortage of swoon worthy male characters? No. The answer is most definitely no. I think that Aiden just made his way to my top 5 book boyfriends. Scratch that- he is in my top 5 list. Easily. Honestly, if you haven’t read a book by Jennifer L. Armentrout, what are you doing with your life you need to get your hands on one as soon as possible. Drop everything and run to your nearest bookstore (or Amazon) and get every single one of her books some of her books! As I am writing this review, last night I finished Sentinel (the 5th and final book in the series) and I already want to re-read it. That is how amazing the series is. So, if you haven’t read this series, what are you waiting for?? Seriously, your life will be changed. I am not even joking. This series is extraordinary. Buy Half-Blood:
