"Maybe it was because his was the only spot of color on the quad, but he was all that Luce could look at. In fact, everything else so paled in comparison that, for one long moment, Luce forgot where she was."

Crescendo Review

Synopsis:
With summer starting and Patch- her extremely protective, extremely hot guardian angel- by her side, things seemed perfect for Nora Grey. Unfortunately, she has to take a summer school class, and Patch has suddenly grown distant and developed an irritating interest in Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Millar.

If she hadn't been so frustrated by Patch, Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parrnell, and old family friend who moved back to town. His attitude alone is enough to drive her away, but Nora is mysteriously drawn to him and the secrets he seems to have about her past.

On top of all that, Nora is suddenly haunted by images of her murdered father, and questions whether her Nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death. Desperate for answers, Nora risks everything despite warnings from everyone she knows that some things are better left buried.

Review:
The prologue in this book was great. We learn a lot of information about when and how Nora's dad died. We know that he died somewhere in the small town of Coldwater, Maine. We learn that it was about 14 months ago. The whole ordeal of how Harrison (Nora's dad) died was very sad because while the murder was happening, he was thinking about Nora and her mom.

When the book resumes in present time, Nora and Patch are at Delphic Beach. All I could think about was how adorable they are together. ♡  Nora goes to get cheeseburgers and runs into Marcie Millar who says some really mean things to her. She doesn't want Patch to know anythings wrong so she goes into the bathroom. On page 16, it says, "What was Marcie's problem? What had I ever done to her that was cruel enough to deserve this?" EXACTLY!! That is literally exactly what I was thinking. Nora must've done something really terrible to Marcie for her to be treating Nora like this. Later on, Patch and Nora exchange meaningful things to prove they will never leave one another. He gives her a silver chain and she gives him a ring from her dad. Nora says she loves Patch and then he runs off, saying he has stuff to do. The next day, Nora breaks up with Patch. Whatttt? I really couldn't believe this  was actually happening. 💔💔

Then, Scott Parnell and his mother, old family friends, move back to Coldwater and are invited for dinner with the Greys.

"My, my," Mrs. Parnell said, clasping her hands together. "She looks just like you, doesn't she, Blythe? And look at those legs! Longer than the Vegas strip."
Okay this was actually hilarious. :P Anyways... Nora learns some weird stuff about how Scott got into trouble. She suspects him to be a Nephilim. That night, Nora dreams about Hank Millar, Marcie's dad. Nora was supposed to take Scott on a tour of Coldwater but she cancels on him and follows him anyway. She thinks she sees her dad, sitting reading the newspaper. Scott knows Nora followed him but Nora asks him to check in the men's bathroom for her dad. He doesn't see anything. That night, there is a storm and Nora's power goes out. Not wanting to be home alone with no power, she finds Scott and they go to The 2 Pool Hall. It turns out that Patch is there, and he tell Nora she shouldn't be hanging out with Scott. Nora tells Patch she doesn't want him to be her guardian angel anymore. :( There is a fight and Nora manages to get out.

Vee and Nora go out to get donuts and Nora receives a ring and a paper that says, "THIS RING BELONGS TO THE BLACK HAND. HE KILLED YOUR DAD." WOAH that was unexpected. Nora tries to find something online about it, but comes up empty handed.

Scott, Nora, Rixon, and Vee go to the Battle of the Bands and Nora thinks she sees her dad again. That night, Patch enters her dreams and she gives him back the chain. :( At the library, Nora gets a card that says I was a jerk last night. Forgive me? but this card had some sort of perfume on it and it made her pass out. She manages to escape, luckily.

Vee and Nora go to Marcie's party, with a plan of snooping in her room. Nora takes Marcie's diary, Patch's baseball cap, and Patch's spare set of keys. After work one night, Scott and Nora go to Delphic Beach. It starts raining and Nora has to bring Scott back to his apartment.

The next morning Vee and Rixon drag Nora along with them to Old Orchard Beach. Rixon tells Nora about Patch's old nickname, The Black Hand. Nora and Vee 'borrow' Patch's jeep. That evening, Nora find out that Hank Millar may actually be her dad and Marcie may be her sister.

Patch enters Nora's dreams again and tells her that he is Marcie's guardian angel now. Nora sneaks into Scott's room and takes his Black Hand ring. Scott finds Nora and tells her she needs to give it back, but she doesn't. Scott gets arrested by Detective Basso. At Delphic Beach, Scott finds Nora and demands she give him the ring back. She runs and Rixon finds her. Her and Rixon find another exit underground. Rixon turns out to be evil, and betrays them. He tries to sacrifice Nora but the Police arrive in time. At the end of the book, Hank Millar takes Nora, and we are left with that major cliffhanger.

I didn't like this book nearly as much as I liked Hush, Hush. It kind of felt like they were the same book, because the ending was so similar, the betrayal of someone you never expected. I also hated all of the fighting between Patch and Nora. :( I do recommend this series, though, overall I think it is definitely worth reading!

"It would be more... prudent for you not to be my friend," he explained. "But I'm tired of trying to stay away from you, Bella." His eyes were gloriously intense as he uttered that last sentence, his voice smoldering. I couldn't remember how to breathe."

The Baltimore Book Festival is annually held in the inner harbor in Baltimore. This year it was on September 23rd, 24th, and 25th (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). I went Friday and Sunday. I'm not going to lie, the main reason I went was to meet Jennifer L Armentrout. :)

The way the festival works is there are panels where authors that write similar topics get together and you can ask them questions. After the panels, the authors were available to sign things. There was also a HUGE table of swag from a bunch of different authors!

Friday:
The first panel I went to on Friday was "Young Adult Author's Chat: Keeping the Thrills, Chills, and Romance Readers Love in YA Fiction," it was at the Maryland Romance Writers Stage and included Jennifer L Armentrout, Pintip Dunn, Cheryl Klam, Lea Nolan, Elodie Nowodazkij, and M.D. Waters. All of the authors were so friendly and answered everyone's questions! After the panel, I met Jennifer L Armentrout. I was wearing my Lux series necklace and shirt and she said she loved them ;).
Here is the shirt:                                                                                      Here's the necklace:
