I got a package of 4 books earlier in the week. The books I got were all from the Lux series. I got Origin (book 4), Opposition (book 5), Oblivion, and Lux: Beginnings. I was SUPER excited to get these books because I had already finished Opal (book 3) and the cliffhanger at the end was slowly killing me. Literally the second I got the books, I immediately started Origin. I tried not to finish it quickly because I love this series so much. But that didn't really work out too well since I was so eager to read. I now have finished both Origin and Opposition. Like I said, I LOVE this series!!!

Synopsis: No one is like Daemon Black.
When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something I'll do again, and now that we've made it through the rough patches, well... There's a lot of spontaneous combustion going on. But even he can't protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love. After everything, I'm no longer the same Katy. I'm different... And I'm not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I'm capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won't turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever. Together we're stronger... and they know it. I'm just going to start off by saying if you are reading this or plan on it, make sure you have the next book (Origin) so you can start it immediately. I didn't have it and it was pure torture having to wait a week and a half to start the next book. The cliffhanger at the end literally made me have to put the book down and just sit there for probably 30 minutes. After Dawson (who went missing with his human girlfriend, Bethany, about 2 years ago) returns at the end of Onyx, he is desperate to get Bethany back. Blake returns and claims he can help them get Bethany. Reluctant to accept Blake's help after what happened last time, it becomes a situation that Katy, Daemon, Dee, Ash, and Andrew have to deal with. Unsurprisingly, the banter between Daemon and Katy continues. Especially when it comes to making the plan to rescue Bethany from Mount Weather. The tension between Dee and Katy makes me keep turning the page. It's so weird to see this new version of Dee after being used to the super friendly Dee. It's also super weird seeing Dee hang out so much with Ash and Andrew. At the end of the book, there's a sort of expected betrayal which results in the group being separated and someone being captured. Bottom Line: LOVE this book! Links to buy Opal: A series I really love is the Lux series. This series has been my favorite since I started reading it, which says a lot because I've read so many great books. I think the Lux series will continue to be my favorite for a long time. I highly recommend this series!
"Flushing even more under his scrutiny, I turned and walked toward the edge of the lake where the drop-off wasn't steep. The water felt great, easing the uncomfortable heat prickling my skin." -Page 56, Chapter 5 "Obsidian" by Jennifer L Armentrout Synopsis: Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…
Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems. Something worse than the Arum has come to town… The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard. But then everything changes… I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me? No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies… Okay, after I finished Obsidian I immediately started to read Onyx. I tried to take my time reading because at this point I only had the first three books. I ordered the next ones off of Amazon but it obviously takes a while for them to come. I didn't want to finish the third book (Opal) and not have the next one (even though that ended up happening anyways). So, I tried to read as slowly as I could which didn't really go as planned. I finished Onyx faster than I'd finished Obsidian. I tried to take breaks while reading in attempt to read slower but I ended up not being able to put the book down. It was frustrating to see Katy think Daemon's attraction for her was only from the connection they shared after he healed her. In this book we learned more about the connection between Daemon and Katy and what it meant for both of them. We are also introduced to a new character, Blake. He starts to train Katy in an effort to help her gain control over her new power. Daemon is automatically suspicious of Blake. Not to mention that Katy goes places with Blake to try to make herself feel normal. She later finds out that Blake is a hybrid, like her, and not human like she thought he was. It was refreshing to see Katy not perfect. I think there are so many characters in books made to be perfect so people can look up to them. In Onyx we see Katy having trouble making decisions, trouble remaining honest, and trusting people too much. Bottom Line: Another great book from Jennifer L Armentrout! Links to buy Onyx:
Happy 4th of July! I hope everyone has an amazing and safe day!
Look forward to Teaser Tuesday tomorrow! ;) Synopsis: Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. And then he opened his mouth. Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is. I am going to admit, it took me over two months to actually start this book. I was stuck in the world of the Sweet series by Wendy Higgins. But I am SO GLAD that I started this book. I don't even know where to start, this book grabbed me from the first few pages. I could not put this book down. Since I've read so many paranormal novels, it's hard to find one that really sticks out to me. I started this book in the car on the way to Virginia. Once I started I could not stop. From the insane adventures, swoon-worthy characters (ahem.. Daemon...), and the funny encounters this book was thoroughly amazing!! Okay, there are so many things to LOVE about this book. Personally, I love how Katy doesn't put up with Daemon's crap. I also loved the humor and the constant arguments between Daemon and Katy. Sure, they act like they hate each other, and at some points it's easy to truly believe that they do. It's noticeable that there's a sort of tension between them throughout the whole book. Even though Obsidian is in Katy's POV, you still get these amazing glimpses behind the bad-boy, arrogant barrier of Daemon to see there is a softie. Right now I finished the 3rd book in the series, Opal, and I am waiting for the final books from Amazon. (AHHH DYING FROM THE CLIFFHANGER AT THE END) Bottom Line: GET THIS SERIES!!
